The 2011 Friend of 4-H Award was presented to the Cochrane-Fountain City School District on October 31, 2011. The Friend of 4-H Award traditionally recognizes an individual, organization, or agency in the community that has made a difference in the lives of 4-H members by has providing financial, political, or in-kind support to the 4-H program. The Buffalo County Leaders’ Association awarded CFC Schools for their support to the 4-H Afterschool program now in its second year and for hosting the 4-H Area Festival of Arts in March 2011. Superintendent Tom Hiebert and Principal Steve Stoppelmoor were awarded the Friend of 4-H plaque by members of the Super Clovers 4-H Club and thanked for their collaboration and dedication to 4-H in Buffalo County. Karla Patzner, 4-H Afterschool Committee Treasurer, said of the award, “CFC students who are members of 4-H Afterschool truly appreciate the administration, teachers and staff who continue to support 4-H fun and learning afterschool. Without your hard work and encouragement our program would not be the success it is. The Friend of 4-H Award is just a small token of our genuine appreciation.”
