Hill & Hollow Helps Haiti

Karen Pehler talking to the Hill and Hollow 4-H club members about her trip to Haiti.

The Hill and Hollow Helping Hand 4-H club met on November 13th at the Waumandee State Bank in Fountain City where members turned in their contribution to the Haitian Service Learning project.  The 4-H clubs of Buffalo County have adopted the children of Haiti for this year’s Service learning project.   To learn of their dismal poverty and educational prospects made even worse by the devastating earth quake was a real eye opener for the children and their families. At an earlier meeting Karen Pehler informed us of her family’s opportunities to volunteer in Haiti and the heartwarming appreciation with which it was received. The members of Hill and Hollow contributed school supplies, pillow cases for making dresses and shorts, other sewing supplies and garden seeds.  We hope they arrive safely and help out even a little bit.
