On June 22, 2017 youth from across Wisconsin participated in the Wisconsin 4-H Area Animal Science Days. The educational event is for dairy and livestock youth to practice hands-on evaluating live animals in the show ring and providing oral reasons about their conformation. A part of the experience each year is learning more about the animal industry and applying skills learned. Josh Axness, Arcadia Plant Production Manager, and Crystal Ganz, Arcadia Field Service Representive, from Pilgrim’s Pride, Home of Gold’n Plump and Bare Chicken shared their expertise in the field. Axness spoke about how richly diverse workforce at the plant aids in processing thousands of chickens each day. Ganz presented to youth on how the live side of the industry works – illustrating how a chicken gets from family farms to family plates across the nation. Buffalo County 4-H youth that participated in the event were Paige Danzinger, Alyssa Danzinger and Alexis Danzinger.
