Buffalo County Fair-August 3-6


Fair Entry Tags

  • Fair Entry Tags will be available for pick up by club leaders/advisors from the UW-Extension Office on July 14th.
  • Please distribute to members promptly and ask them to review.
  • Any corrections need to be made by Monday, July 24th. Changes will not be allowed on entry day of the Fair this year. Please notify the UW-Extension office of all corrections prior to July 24th.
  • All exhibits must have an entry tag attached at time of check-in.
  • Animal exhibits must have entry tag accompanying them at time of check-in.

Show Animal Numbers Due

  • Club leaders/advisors, please submit total number of animals (per specie) that your club will be bringing to the Buffalo County Fair to the UW-Extension Office by July 14, 2017. Please submit these numbers by club/chapter to roxane.weisenbeck@co.buffalo.wi.us
  • These actual numbers will then be used to make barn assignments and the herdsmanship schedule.
  • Barn assignments and the Herdsmanship schedule will not be completed until all clubs have submitted total number of animals.
  • Herdsmanship will be conducted electronically this year, please plan for an individual that feels comfortable using an iPad.

2017 Outstanding 4-H Member Award – $100 Scholarship

4-H members age 16 or over (as of January 1, 2017), may apply.

Please refer to the guidelines in the 2017 Fair Book under the Trophy and Award section.

Applications must be completed and returned to Annie by July 28, 2017.

There are sections that need to be completed by parents/guardians and 4-H Club Leaders, so please allow ample time for their input.

2017 Outstanding Dairy Exhibitor Award

Dairy exhibitors are encouraged to apply. An application form is available on-line at:http://buffalo.uwex.edu/4hyd/4h/buffalocountyfair/

Applications must be completed and returned to the Fair Association Secretary by August 3, 2017.

Livestock Exhibitors

  • Weigh-In at the Fair – All market animals must be weighed in between 7:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3rd. Market animals arriving after that time will not be eligible for sale.
  • Entry tags must accompany all animals at time of check-in.
  • Meat Animal Meeting – Required meeting of all meat animal exhibitors, 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3rd.
  • Swine judging will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3rd.
  • Carcass Show Judging Wednesday, August 9th, Gunderson Food Service, Mondovi.
  • Carcass Show Thursday, August 10th, 7:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Food Service, Mondovi.

  • Meat Animal Exhibitors Contact Potential Buyers  Provide them with information about you, your animal and the Livestock Sale. Junior Livestock Sale, August 4th, 7:00 p.m. Buffalo County Fair, Mondovi, WI

Fair Exhibit/Entry Check-in

  • All exhibits/entries must have an entry tag attached.
  • All exhibits/entries must be checked-in using the barcode scanners at designated locations throughout exhibit buildings.
  • After exhibit/entry has been checked-in, must place in appropriate section according to department, class and lot for judging. Look for color coded placement signs.
  • All exhibits must remain in place until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Superintendent Training

August 2nd, 6:00 p.m., Buffalo County Fairgrounds,

New & experienced Fair superintendents are invited to attend this training to learn and  re-familiarize themselves with the FairEntry Check-in and Results processes. Hands on demonstrations of the procedures and equipment are planned. The “new” judges boxes will be available for review. Department information as well as guidelines will be available to help ensure consistency throughout the judging process ultimately providing a better experience for young exhibitors in Buffalo County.
