Bobcat and Bear Sightings Wanted

Black bears and bobcats are commonly found in the northern third of Wisconsin, but are being sighted more frequently in the central and southern counties of Wisconsin as they expand their range. While a large proportion of the population still resides in Wisconsin’s northern counties, distribution is moving southward.

As the two populations continue to grow, direct observations from the field provide important information for black bear and bobcat managers. These observations are one factor biologists use in developing range estimates. You can help by recording and reporting your observations of black bear or bobcat.  Please record your observations and find more information about bobcats and black bears in WI at the link below. http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/wildlife/harvest/bearbobcat.htm
