4-H clubs team up for Mondovi’s backpack meals program

Lucky 16 4-H and Hilltop Climbers 4-H clubs joined forces in Mondovi on March 25 as part of the 2018 countywide 4-H service learning project. Youth and adult leaders worked together to assemble 215 crockpot meals that will be provided along with a crockpot to families enrolled in the Mondovi Backpack Meal program in the coming weeks. With much organization and many hands, the work, which included four different kinds of meals, was completed in a little under 30 minutes. Both 4-H clubs made financial contributions to fund the meals. Hilltop Climbers 4-H members did all the shopping for the meals and youth selected the recipes to share with others. The 50 crockpots were also funded in part by a community grant from Thrivent Financial and by both 4-H clubs. The service event was coordinated  in part by Jennifer Sandberg, a Lucky 16 4-H club adult leader and the coordinator of the Mondovi Backpack Meal program.

Lucky 16 4-H members planned the teamwork event to assemble backpack meals.

Hilltop Climbers 4-H club members helped pack 50 crockpot meals for families in the Mondovi area.
