Friends of 4-H Welcome Garcia-Soto

At their bi-annual meeting on September 13, 2018 the Friends of Buffalo County 4-H, Inc. welcomed their newest board member, Ileana Garcia-Soto. Board terms are three years in length; Garcia-Soto’s will end in 2021.

Ileana Garcia-Soto was an active member in 4-H as a youth in Puerto Rico. She brings with her a deep passion for the 4-H organization and for supporting local families. Garcia-Soto is currently the pastor at Prince of Peace church in Mondovi.

Austin George, the youth represenative for the Buffalo County 4-H Leaders Association, joined the board last February. He is a member of the Hilltop Climbers 4-H Club and a junior at Mondovi High School. His term ends at graduation.

Other members of the Friends of Buffalo County 4-H board include Greg Sage (Nelson), Perry Nyseth (Mondovi), Fay Passow (Cochrane), Annie Lisowski (Fountain City), Gary Schlosstein (Alma), Bob Major (Alma), Sue Iverson (Mondovi) and John Stettler (Fountain City). The Friends are a trust fund managed free of charge by Alliance Bank, represented by Linda Larson and Rose Wisneski.

In the last couple of years the Friends, under the financial leadership of Greg Sage, have invested their funds in local stocks that have yielded over $2500 in dividends and interest that are contributed directly to the Buffalo County 4-H program annually. The current market value of the trust is over $70,000.
