Hilltop Climbers 4-H Cloverbuds Ready for the Fair


The Hilltop Climbers 4-H Club met on Sunday, April 6,2018 at 4 pm at the Marten Center in Mondovi.  The meeting was called to order, pledges were said and reports were read and approved.  Old business included:  Thank you to the families who took took cans to the reclycling and another big thanks to the families who worked many hours on our new trailer (Risler, Koenitzer, Lee).  At the March leadership meeting it was announced that our club took 3rd place in the candy bar fundraiser.  Clover College was attended by Alison George, Julia Moats, and Ava Poeschel.  They participated in metal stamping and leather crafts.  County wide service learning project was held on Sunday, March 25th at the Mondovi school cafeteria with the Lucky 16 4-H Club.  We packed crock pot meals for the backpack program and donated crock pots for the families.  Our club is now looking for crock pot recipes for a cookbook.  Members are encouraged to send recipes to Patty and let her know if you are willing to serve on a committee that will put the book together.  A few Clover Buds shared their projects they created at a meeting just before our regular club meeting.  They made picture frames and a rice search game. Thanks to the leaders for organizing the meeting and the projects.  New Business included:  MAQA is now replaced with YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals), be sure to take the online class if you did not attend the meeting.  The second educational requirements are June 11 and more details are to come.  Animal information has to be entered into the 4-H website by May 1st.  Fair entry dates for our club are May 14-20. Instructions will be sent by email prior to the date.  Open Class fair entry dates are May 6-June 4.  Sheep and goat weigh in are April 28th 9-11 am at Waumandee Countryside Coop.  If you did not get your swine ear tags be sure to let Patty know as soon as possible.  Barn decorations committee is looking for helpers (M. Moats and M. Poeschel).  Sign up sheet went around for sign up for roadside clean up in Pepin County.  Please contact Patty if you have not signed up and can help.  Any other new business:  If interested in leather craft contact Julie Pichler (beginners are welcome).  Thank you to all the families who signed up to work on the garden west of town.  If anyone else is interested please contact Julie Pichler.  4-H t-shirts will be ordered watch for more information in emails.  Thanks Jennifer Roetter for volunteering your time!  The meeting was adjourned and followed by a presentation from Kora Falkner on her 4-H foreign exchange trip to Japan.  Kora had a very interesting slide presentation and shared many artifacts she brought back with her, including food.  Thanks for sharing Kora.    Submitted by Kayla Howell
