Hilltop Climbers started off their meeting on Sunday, February 11, at 4:00 pm, at the Marten City by decorating cookies for the local business who have supported 4-H.
The business part of the meeting took place at 4:40 pm. The pledges were said and the Secretary’s report was read and approved. Treasurer’s report was read by the President, Josh Linse and members were reminded to pay their dues if they had not already done so.
Old business included a thank you to everyone who has taken the cans to recycling centers. Then there was a discussion about how the can trailer will be modified at the end of the month. Finally, There was a recap of what some members did at The Festival of Arts that was held earlier in the day (George, Moats, Linse, and Pichler families attended the event). New Business reminders include candy bar fund raiser funds are due to Patty by March 18th (please include all envelopes and large bills or one check). MAQA has been replaced by YQCA and everyone taking animals to the fair that stay over night needs to attend (not just market animals). Our county wide service learning project was discussed. This year we are working with other local 4-H groups for the school back pack program on Sunday, March 25 at 1 pm at the Marten Center. Our club voted to donate $600 to the project. Watch for more details in emails to come. Sign up for fair project areas by March 31 and then fair entry will take place May 14-20. Watch for emailed instructions which will include some newly added project areas. Camp Kinnissippewa will be June 25-27 overnight camp for grades 3-8. Check with Patty about any questions. Beef weigh is set for February 24, at NFO in Independence from 9 to 12:00. Sheep and goat weigh in is set for April 28th, at Countryside Coop in Waumadee from 9 to 11:00. There is a sign up available to do demonstrations. Our business meeting was adjourned and Alison George presented a demonstration on to make Minion Slime. The club purchased pizza and drinks for all to enjoy. Our next meeting is Sunday, April 8th 4 pm at the Marten Center.
