UW-Extension partnered with local libraries to bring young people and their families Sidewalk Science! In connection with the summer reading program theme, Libraries Rock!, youth at Alma Public Library, Mondovi Public Library and Arcadia Public Library have the opportunity to engage in the science (and art) of music after hearing a book about rhythm, dance and songs. Rachel Hovey, UWEX Intern, poses with preschoolers at Alma Public Library after they created their own guitars just like Miguel did in the movie Coco. Below, Allison Doelle, UWEX Intern, led youth and adults at Arcadia Public Library in designing their own rhythm sticks after the story I Got Rhythm. A final opportunity for Sidewalk Science will engage youth in circuiting a human piano with a makey makey to dance to their own beat!
