UW-Extension Welcomes Three Summer Interns

Derek Anibasderek.anibas@co.buffalo.wi.us

UW-Extension Ag Intern

I chose to intern with the UW-Extension to gain experience with crop production and soil parameters. I will be learning about agronomy management, the effects of different cropping systems, and pesticide application. I am excited to evaluate the measurable soil health parameters in alfalfa, soybean, and corn research plots that have had dry scrubber material applied from the Dairyland Power plant. Another highlight of my internship will be assessing and evaluating cover crops and soil health in grain fields. I will also be gathering and analyzing Nitrogen rate plot data in corn and barley fields.

UW-Extension Fair Intern

My passion for working with youth and strong belief in the 4-H program has brought me back to the UW-Extension Office for a second year! I have exhibited in the Buffalo County Fair for the past eleven years. This will be my first year not exhibiting, so I am thankful for this opportunity to stay connected and involved in the county fair. I look forward to and enjoy helping families prepare for the fair, answering questions regarding exhibits, and watching the many successes of our 4-H and FFA members!  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding the Buffalo County Fair!

UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development Summer Intern & STEAM Coordinator

I chose to work for the UW Extension office because of my past experience with it being so great. I worked for the 4-H Afterschool and Summer Program for the past 2 summers and had an amazing time, I now get to continue this experience working as a the Summer Intern. I am most looking forward to revamping the lessons for STEAM Discovery Days, using my Education background to make them interdisciplinary and incorporate more Reading. The stakeholders may use my programming because I will be doing my best to make it interdisciplinary, involve reading, and be fun for various age groups.
